Human nature is we tend to feel like or think that we're beyond the basics. Sometimes, some of us may even fall into the trap of believing we're above the basics - which is worse.
We are only as strong as our foundations. Our foundations are only as strong as the maintenance that goes into them.
Take fitness for example. Or sports.
Fitness: after mastering basic pushup, pullup, squats, lunges, we find ourselves in a lot of variations that still utilize the base forms.Sports: every athlete knows that without practicing the basics obsessively, they won't amount to anything on the field or ice.
So then why, for the rest of us "normies" or every day folk, do we insist that we're "too good" for the basics and foundations?
Why do we believe we've moved past it?
Well, news flash. I don't have the answers - it's a trap I sometimes fall in as well myself.
However, what I do know is that our foundations are only as strong as the maintenance we provide them. Regardless of our aptitude or skill level.
If things start falling apart or moving sideways, perhaps try considering looking further back in your process.
Then ask yourself "where am I forgetting the foundations that brought me here?"
