Rise or run, the feeling that comes up is often indistinguishable from each other.
Our natural stress responses are fight, flight, freeze, yeah?
Some times life throws things our way making us want to take flight to greener pastures.
However, the other pastures are rarely ever actually greener, cleaner and more pleasant. Choosing a new playing field simply means that we're playing against new teams.
Often when we feel like running away, what we're actually wishing is to be seen. In new surroundings, even a workplace such as a DAO, it can be tempting to give in to the bench warmer feelings.
We don't actually want to run away. If we truly want to be seen and involved then running away or warming the bench isn't the way to go about doing it.
We must learn to lean into the feeling and start making more noise.
Alternatively, instead of competing against the noise make a new noise to get yourself the attention you desire.
Attention is the most valuable commodity in the world. Time is the most scarce. There simply isn't enough to go around.
The more we run, the more we hide, the longer it takes us to find our footing and rise above it all.
When we lean into the feeling of running away to start running into the battles of life we learn it's not so bad. The perceived stressors and roadblocks often don't have the anticipated reaction towards us.
We learn we got ourselves worked up for what? Stuff that never happened and may never exist!
Give yourself the permission to dive in.
Give yourself permission to shine.
You owe it you yourself, nobody else.
